The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag warning for our area. Please refrain from any outside burning...
RED FLAG WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM EDT THIS EVENING
FOR MUCH OF CENTRAL NEW YORK AND NORTHEASTERN PENNSYLVANIA...
* AFFECTED AREA...MUCH OF CENTRAL NEW YORK AND ALL OF NORTHEASTERN
PENNSYLVANIA.
* WINDS...SUSTAINED WINDS OF 20 TO 30 MPH...WITH GUSTS AS HIGH AS
45 MPH...PARTICULARLY ON THE HILLTOPS.
* TIMING...THROUGH EARLY EVENING.
* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...AS LOW AS 20 TO 30 PERCENT.
* IMPACTS...ANY FIRES THAT DEVELOP WILL BE CAPABLE OF RAPID SPREAD AND
GROWTH. OUTDOOR BURNING IS NOT RECOMMENDED AT THIS TIME.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
A RED FLAG WARNING MEANS THAT CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS
ARE EITHER OCCURRING NOW...OR WILL SHORTLY. A COMBINATION OF
STRONG WINDS...LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY...AND WARM TEMPERATURES WILL
CREATE EXPLOSIVE FIRE GROWTH POTENTIAL.
2 Philadelphia Fire Fighters Killed in the Line of Duty
The Spring Brook Volunteer Fire Company would like to extend or deepest condolences to the Philadelphia Fire Department and the family's of the two fallen fire fighters. Two firefighters were killed and three others injured battling a fire sparked by a 5 alarm warehouse fire in Kensington Monday morning. The five firefighters were inside a discount furniture store located on the 2400 block of Kensington Avenue, which had caught fire as the result of embers coming from the burning warehouse, located adjacent to the store. Two firefighters perished inside when a wall collapsed in the rear of the store. Three others were rescued from the store and taken to Temple University Hospital. One of the injured firefighters was admitted for treatment and another is being evaluated. There is no word on the condition of the third injured firefighter. Rest in Peace Brothers...
Easter Egg Hunt!!!
Join us tomorrow 1 April 2012 for the Spring Brook Volunteer Fire Company's Annual Easter Egg hunt. Registration is at 1 PM withe the festivities starting at 2 PM. Kids of all ages are welcome as there are different age groups and prizes. We are located at the intersections of RTE 502 and RTE 690. Hope to see you there !!!!
